Ralph Hasenhüttl: "Efficiency will be most important of all"

Ralph Hasenhüttl and Timo Werner preview Sunday’s trip to VfB Stuttgart | Konrad Laimer (Adductor muscle) misses out | Kevin Kampl (muscle problem) still a doubt | 1,200 RBL-Fans expected to make the trip to the Mercedes-Benz Arena

It’s time to pick up points on the road in the Bundesliga again! Following the 2-1 win over Zenit in the Europa League on Thursday night, Die Roten Bullen return to league action on Sunday at 15:30 to face VfB Stuttgart. Last year’s newly-promoted side are currently 9th in the table and around 1,200 RBL fans are expected to travel south for the matchday 26 encounter.

Ralph Hasenhüttl:

  • "Stuttgart have found their feet since the start of the Rückrunde and are in a good run of form. The game won't be decided on possession but rather the work done defensively.
  • "We can get something from Stuttgart, but we won't get a lot of opportunities. We have a good record in stadiums where not a lot of people have won this season.
  • "If we can start like we did against Zenit, be clinical up front and stable at the back then and cool in the midfield. Efficiency will be most important of all."

Timo Werner:

  • "It really motivated me to be able to play against Stuttgart. Of course I want to help Leipzig be successful, but I also want to show what I have turned into since I left my hometown. I’m really looking forward to seeing my friends and family.
  • "This will be the first time I have played in Stuttgart against VfB and it will be very special to come back to the city where I was born. But I live in Leipzig now, and the club and the fans have done so much to ensure I never get homesick. I am very happy here and that gives me complete confidence in my performances."
