 The Bundesliga is back! On Saturday, FC Schalke 04 come to Leipzig. After a short winter break, the Rückrunde begins with a clash against second place Schalke and revenged is desired after Schalke’s 2-0 victory in the VELTINS Arena.

After 17 matches, FC Schalke 04 can look at the Bundesliga table with a smile on their face. Currently, Domenico Tedesco’s side lie in second place with 30 points due to eight wins, six draws and three defeats.
Schalke’s start of the season was somewhat rocky with three wins and three losses in their first six games. Since then, the Royal Blues haven’t lost and that’s why they find themselves near the summit of the table.

Winter preparations and transfer news:

Schalke spent one week in Benidorm as part of their winter break training. In a friendly, the Royal Blues defeated Belgian side KRC Genk 2-1.

Schalke’s latest recruit, Marko Pjaca, scored to make it 1-0. The Croatian has joined the Gelsenkirchen-based club from Juventus on loan until the end of the season.

Additionally, Schalke have shared the news of their transfer of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim attacker Mark Uth who will head to the Ruhr area in summer.

In terms of players leaving, none have been announced so far.

2016/17

Last season, when the two teams faced in the Red Bull Arena, Leipzig won 2-1 courtesy of a Timo Werner strike and a Sead Kolasinac own goal.
