Ralf Rangnick extends contract until 2021

RBL sporting director extends contract early | Ralf Rangnick has guided Die Roten Bullen in the Bundesliga and in their debut Champions League season.

Contract news! The day after the 2-0 win against SV Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga, Ralf Rangnick has extended his contract with the club by two more years until 2021.

The 59-year-old took over at the club in 2012 and oversaw the teams rise from the Regionalliga to the Bundesliga and Champions League. He was also the head coach during the season that the team were promoted to the Bundesliga in 2015/16.

In addition to a series of successful transfers, Rangnick was also responsible for recruiting head coach Ralph Hasenhüttl, who delivered Champions League qualification in our debut Bundesliga campaign. Die Roten Bullen currently sit second in the Bundesliga and are guarenteed to be playing European football in the spring.

"I'm happy that my future will be at this great club, which has undergone fantastic development and whose journey is far from ending, in my view.

After some thrilling foundation years, we've now established ourselves in the Bundesliga and are competitive in Europe. I want to continue our development at the club with Oliver Mintzlaff and our team.

The decision to extend my contract early is also an acknowledgement to this wonderful city, where I feel very happy.

Chief executive Oliver Mintzlaff:

"We're delighted that we could extend Ralf Rangnick's contract early by two more years. He is the sporting enginge at this club and therefore crucial to our future development.

Now we have planning security and will continue our current path sustainably and systematically. Our common goal is to continue growing organically and pushing the boundaries. It's a very positive sign for our club, especially for the continuity, sustable structures and further development.
