“HSV’s change of coach makes it difficult for us to prepare!”

Ralph Hasenhüttl looks forward to the home match against HSV | Marcel Halstenberg (cruciate ligament) and Emil Forsberg (abdominal muscles) both injured | Naby Keita a doubt

Leipzig host Hamburger SV! The match against Hamburger SV will kick off on Saturday at 15:30 CET in the Red Bull Arena.

Ralph Hasenhüttl:

Marcel Halstenberg’s cruciate ligament injury is, for him and us, very hard to take. Halste had big hope for this season and was in the running for a World Cup spot. I really hope he comes back even stronger and I wish him all the best.

I know the new HSV coach Bernd Hollerbach very well. He did a super job in Würzburg and had a lot of success there. I think he is a really great guy and I’m looking forward to seeing him again.

Things at HSV are bound to change now that they have a new man in charge. It could be a completely new system, eventually even a new squad – everything is possible. That makes it difficult for us to prepare for the game.

I’m expecting that Hamburg will sit deep and not give us any space in behind. The first thing Hollerbach will want to do in there is to tighten them up structurally. HSV’s victory last season here in Leipzig is still fresh in our memories. We definitely want to do better than that on Saturday.

Team news:

Emile Forsberg has been able to complete some more functional training with the ball this week. The striker is progressing well from his abdomen injury but is not yet free from pain and will miss this weekend’s fixture.

Marcel Halstenberg suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in Tuesday’s training session and is expected to be out for several months.

Naby Keita did take part in some of the team’s training sessions after his illness. Whether the midfielder will be able to take part in Saturday’s fixture will be decided shortly.

Benjamin Cortus from Röthenbach will referee the match.
