“You have to get a lot of things right to win in Dortmund!”

Reaction from Ralph Hasenhüttl, Marcel Sabitzer, Kevin Kampl, Péter Gulácsi, Yussuf Poulsen and Bernardo after the 3-2 victory against Bundesliga table-toppers Borussia Dortmund

Ralph Hasenhüttl:

“You have to get a lot of things right to win in Dortmund. We persisted with pushing forward, showed a lot of passion and overcame the deficit. It was important to me that we believed in our own abilities and that’s what we did. We pressured our opponents, came up with more ideas than Dortmund today and defended excellently.
I’m really proud of what we’ve managed to achieve here – it was sensational. Playing so offensively in Dortmund can also be a bad idea, but we wanted to put on a show. We earned the win today.”

Marcel Sabitzer:

“It was really important to score an equaliser quickly after we conceded. On the whole, we played fantastically today. If you can take three points away from Dortmund, then you must have done something right.
I only found out shortly before the game that I’d be wearing the captain’s armband in Dortmund. I was delighted, of course, but the important thing is that we delivered a quality performance and we’ve been rewarded with a win.”

Yussuf Poulsen:

“We gave a great performance from beginning to end today. We played attacking football, set up great chances and we reaped the rewards with three great goals. In my opinion, this was our best performance so far this season.”

Kevin Kampl:

“It was the perfect Saturday evening match: a real blockbuster with end-to-end football. Dortmund had the better start, but we definitely reacted well and came back – it was incredible!

We came to Dortmund’s home ground, went into a 3-1 lead and threw everything we had at them. It was a fantastic team performance from everybody.”

 Péter Gulácsi:

“We had a clear idea of what we wanted to do before the game and we wanted to deliver a great performance against Dortmund. We wanted to bring our quality with us onto the pitch and we did that impressively. We attacked with a lot of pace today and managed to get ourselves out of trouble in the hairy moments. In my opinion, we leave as the deserved winners.”

Bernardo:

“It’s not easy to come to Dortmund, but the whole team fought hard today and each and every player brought their best to the pitch. We managed to turn this exciting and intense match in our favour and we’re all absolutely ecstatic about it.
It’s really important to me that I played again today. I was on the bench for the last five games and I’m delighted that I was able to help the team on the pitch today.”
