"We can be proud of our performance, despite the result"

Ralph Hasenhüttl, Marcel Sabitzer, Diego Demme and Emil Forsberg give their thoughts on the cup clash with FC Bayern.

 Ralph Hasenhüttl:

It was a great game up until the 55th minute. The red card turned the game on its head unfortunately. We were extremely tactically restricted from that point on, and had to fight to get the result we wanted.

The boys gave their all tonight, but unfortunately have nothing to show for their efforts. The players sat in the dressing room after the game and were a bit confused as to what they did wrong to lose the game. Everyone watching paid witness to a top class game of football and a heroic fight from the boys.

Everyone can leave the stadium feeling very proud of themselves. We came out on top in a lot of respects, even if we didn't win the game. If you lose to FC Bayern on penalties you haven't done much wrong. We have to just put it behind us and focus on Saturday!"

Marcel Sabitzer:

"It's not easy for a referee to have to make decisions on controversial moments like there were in today's game. It's very easy to pin the blame on the ref after a game, but we played very well so we don't want to focus on what he did and didn't do. When it gets to penalties it can go either way when you step up to take a spot kick. Unfortunately Timo couldn't quite connect on his one, and that happens in football. Timo is a great player, he'll come back stronger!

We'll give our all again on Saturday. It won't be easy, but that's always the case against FC Bayern. One positive is that they also had to play for 120 minutes today."

Diego Demme:

"We fought hard and held on for a long time. In spite of the result, the draw after 90 minutes is the type of performance that we need to take into the league. It's obviously a tough pill to swallow though when you lose like this though.

It's a shame that Timo couldn't score his penalty, but everyone is very supportive of him. We have the chance to put it right on Saturday! We can be proud of our performance today. We'll come back stronger!"

Emil Forsberg:

"We can proud of ourselves after that! It was difficult for us, especially when you're down to ten men, but that's football. We did really well given the circumstances.

There were a lot of controversial moments out there, which everyone will have their opinions on, but it's no use to us to dwell on them. We lost, and we have to live with that. The loss hurts and that's normal, but we have a big game ahead of us on Saturday and we're really looking forward to it. We want to win the game very badly."
